Lately we have seen lots of boats being lifted out of the water it is amazing to watch.

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Opposite us are two small fishing boats, every day they go out fishing then come back with cuttlefish and/or other things they have caught in their net.    

 

 

 

World book day

The model maker’s handbook by Albert Jackson & David Day   

 

The model makers hand book is great for model makers of all ages and really easy to use whilst modelling or planning a model. I think that it’s the best modelling book in our boat. It’s a great book! I like it because it is brilliant for children and well set out with diagrams and photos, it is great for railway modellers to look at while working on your layout.

This book is about a greyhound who lives with several people who each give him a different name. The best bit of the book is the back were you will find lots of fun things and information, I would recommend it to children, something you should look for is a little dog in the bottom right hand corner of each page, if you speed through the pages it looks like it runs.

My year on Tarquilla

Last year was amazing. We have travelled from England to Gijon in Spain living in Tarquilla.  

 

My favourite place so far was Santander because of the airport.                  

 

The best thing we have seen was the Bay of Biscay because it was so big, it made you feel small, you could only see fish and marine life and sea but no land for about 3 days and it felt very deep.

 

 I loved it at Brest because of the trams and bendy buses but mainly the tram opening day because we got free rides on the brilliant trams it was great to look out the front and watch the points and things coming up ahead and watching the back of the tram at the stations as he was keeping an eye on the back of the tram on the monitors, and we could see what the driver was doing.

 

It is very useful to have space for bikes, even if you have to dismantle them, so you can get them out very easily so we get them out more often. We have got them out 4 or 5 times, mainly where it's safe for bikes.

My day on the trams

I like the trams, they were opened yesterday, their company is Bibus.

 We took the bus to Brest, the busses were also Bibus, we went on the bendy bus, we went on two, one to get there and one to get back. We were having fun on the discs in the middle because they turned with the bus when we went round corners.

When we got off the bus we headed straight to the trams because we wanted to see them starting. We took some photos of the trams when they were parked at the station waiting to be opened. At 11 o’clock the trams started up, the church bells rang and everyone got all excited.



We saw trams it was amazing and we went on them, they’re really fast and I like riding on them especially when we are right behind the driver because then we can see out the front and see all his gadgets including his side camera.

We went to a pet shop and saw loads of puppies, there were ten. They were cute, they were in cages, a lot of them were sleeping like most dogs but there were two who were on the move, one wanted to be Richards pet and the other just wanted to get out of the cage with me. We also saw rabbits (who were very cute, I wanted a few) we also saw fish (who were swimming around their tank). I liked the mice, rats and gerbils (who were all sleeping). We went in to get Susie a new basket but couldn’t find what we wanted.

Altogether my day was absolutely amazing

We did leave Brest but had to come back because our engine started jumping. When we got back we ordered some engine mounts. In the engine shop I found a very friendly bulldog, I like him.

Lots of sailing races happen here.

We found some fragments of mast with art on them.

Misty magic in St Quay Harbour.

Today saw the second day of competition in the pre-olympic qualifying. There were ladies from different countries competing in 8 different boats.

They were a bit slow because there was hardly any wind. One of them ended up on the edge of the hull and nearly fell over. There were RIB’s zipping around making lines in the water including a finishing line which nobody crossed, an old fishing boat that had been converted into a helping boat, and there was also a big sailing boat decorated all over with flags.

There were multi-coloured buoys which the boats had to swerve around then heaved up the spinnaker and adjusted the sails ready to race along with the wind behind them, faster than at any other point in the course.

Having loads of fun on the water on a calm day with patches of fog floating around which make the nearby rocks look more scary. A great day to watch or sail such an important match for those after a gold medal in the Olympics to be held in Portland/Weymouth this year in the Summer.

St Quay Portrieux

St Quay Portrieux is a great big fishing port and it is hilarious watching the fishing boats because they drift and charge and carry on doing the same over and over again. St Quay Portrieux isn’t just fishing it also has nice beaches too they have rock pools and sand!

 The tides are huge! We have to climb a steep ramp at low tide at high tide it is flat.(In these pictures the tide is nearly in and then only half out - look at the height of the pilings (posts) at the side of the pontoons for an idea of the heights involved. At spring tides last week the difference was really very big.Mark.)

We explored an island that you can only get to at low tide called Ile de la Comtesse, it has ruins on it.

I bought some sausages at the market, I had to say “Un demi saucisse seche et cinq saucisses fumee s’il vous plait.”
